Post-Mission 1 Snippets
Multiple strand views

Snippet 1: Whole has continuous victors of thought. There are people sitting around a table discussing something. It is a committee at the university. A proposal-what value does this have? Someone asks. I am (perceiving my strand) sitting in an area next to the man with the proposal. Someone is questioning the time of the resettlement.
-
Snippet 2: Burying our brother in a fog. We think he will live forever.
-

Snippet 3: There is a field of flowers. I am meeting an adversary. I sense that I could be killed in such a way as to render the Vessel recoverable. The Adversary cannot sense me right now, but I can sense it. The Watcher with us senses a great pressure, an insane pressure emanating from this Adversary. There are flowers everywhere. The last thing this strand remembers is being rent apart, and turned into mist.
-
Snippet 4: Something in all of those scenes that will live much longer.
-

Snippet 5: A door opens at the subway. There are people in suits with pale eyes, many of them. The last time I was here was 500 years ago. One man smiles at me in recognition. I am not sure, is this a physical form?
-
Snippet 6 (pertains to Mike’s strands): There is a meeting with some people who are under one of our Adversaries. This is not active opposition at the moment. Potential is discussed. The adversaries think they can deal with what they label as “contagion.” Adversary Z and Adversary X-their reps are discussing. Adversary X can remove potential without suffering contagion. They are looking for freedom from the Old Gods. This strand sees mortals doing manual labor. What are you doing with all these flowers? asks Adversary X’s rep of Z’s. “We have to have a strategy to know how they think. To come up with a common strategy. We need to break the divine entity into parts to perceive it and deal with it. Take a look at this,” he says. Pale flowers, very unnatural and colorless blue. This has to do with the Iron Wheels. They do not have potential but a slice of Will, a very small slice. Will can eventually be broken…these flowers can take in a piece of it. Can they be harnessed? Possibly. The Wheels are a massive version of the stones from the 1st mission. Are we tapping Potential? This can be used as a mechanism to overthrow the Old Gods. The strand here knows this.
-

Snippet 7: On a deck (attached to a building) overlooking a crystal city, which exists in multiple dimensions. It needs you to love it and trust it. It needs a willing volunteer (two people talking)-passion for free will for mortals to run their own lives. Can you see your own future? Take a look, and see how far you can go. His future extends far beyond that of the life of the interviewer (who asked this question) and beyond the horizon. The future is increasingly warm and peaceful. But there is something cool on the horizon…
-
Snippet 8: A tree is being uprooted in a bog. A sacrifice for the Old Gods is being interrupted. We are trying to prevent it from capturing the potential of this strand.
-

Snippet 9: (back to Cruz strand): I am standing with the man whom I was supposed to meet. This is at a rented cottage. I am asking about a person’s serfdom…there is something weird about me. I am perceiving colors, heat, sense. Companion…(no details)…the forest near the farm is full of flowers (“loco”).

10: The Advance

Summary

An operation is mounted to extinguish The Hum. However, this requires some extreme precautions—the target is something The Home itself cannot perceive, so it is presumed to be similarly outside of time.

Hundreds of Vessels are deployed in small autonomous groups, placed and timed to converge upon and surround the Northern valley during a single night. As a precaution against corruption, they are incommunicado with each other except for each group’s Watcher.

This leads to the first contact with an Old God since humanity was freed.

05: The Queens of the Wood

An unbroken line
of Magical Queens
kept watch for the impact
of the Rebel’s timestream.

But when it arrived,
the Queens didn’t see—
Because they’d been replaced
by the wrong family tree.

Summary

After the Home’s vessels defeat the Titan and its Adversary mistress (suicidally) flees across time, they establish a dynasty of vigilants to wait for Her corpse to re-materialize.

Thus begins a long tale of check-up visitations, the Queens of the Wood, and the tradition of the The Divine Consort.
